UR for a Sustainable Rzeszów: Environmental Research for the Health and Well-being of Citizens
On 15 May 2025, a cooperation agreement was signed between the City of Rzeszów and the University of Rzeszów concerning the preparation of environmental analyses for the site of a future dendrological park in Zalesie, Rzeszów.
The scope of the analyses will include: assessment of the condition of existing vegetation, soil analyses, geological structure and landform studies, species composition analysis of selected insect groups, ornithological inventory, GIS analyses, and landscape panorama assessments.
The establishment of a dendrological park is a multi-stage process involving botanical studies, landscape design, and plant maintenance. Such parks aim to preserve species diversity, support education and research, and offer aesthetically pleasing and relaxing spaces for visitors.
The planned area for the park, covering approximately 4 hectares, is municipally owned by the City of Rzeszów. It is located in the eastern part of the city, in the Zalesie district. The site borders both single- and multi-family housing estates and is adjacent to the University of Rzeszów campus.
This initiative is part of the RID programme “Excellent Podkarpacie – Comprehensive Environmental Research at the University of Rzeszów for the Benefit of the Region.”
