Participation of Prof Idalia Kasprzyk in the 4th Interregional Learning Workshop of the GRENHEALTH Project in Sweden
From 19 to 22 May 2025, Prof Idalia Kasprzyk, Head of the Regional Initiative of Excellence programme "The Excellent Sub-Carpathian Region – a Comprehensive Environmental Study at the University of Rzeszów for the Benefit of the Region", took part in the 4th Interregional Learning Workshop held within the framework of the Interreg GRENHEALTH – Sustainable Protected Areas as a Key Value for Human Well-Being project. The event took place in the picturesque Kullaberg Nature Reserve in Höganäs, Sweden.
The workshop focused on sustainable tourism in protected areas – a priority topic also addressed by the Regional Initiative of Excellence. Prof Kasprzyk presented the programme’s goals and activities to the international community, highlighting the natural assets of the Podkarpackie region as a foundation for developing nature-based and health tourism. She also presented the University of Rzeszów as a key centre for research on environmental quality and the ecosystem services and disservices relevant to regional development.
Participants engaged in field workshops across the Kullaberg Reserve, as well as discussion sessions dedicated to the challenges of sustainable and inclusive tourism across GRENHEALTH partner countries. These sessions provided a valuable platform for the exchange of expertise and experience among academics, practitioners, and regional policymakers from across Europe.
The project's themes are closely aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3, by emphasising the importance of access to nature, outdoor activities, and the sustainable management of protected areas in enhancing human health and quality of life.
