Faculty of Biotechnology is involved in New Pollen Forecast Service

Employees of the Faculty of Biotechnology at the University of Rzeszów: MSc Julia Brewka, Dr Katarzyna Kluska, and MSc Magdalena Wójcik-Kanach, working within the team of Prof. Dr. Hab. Idalia Kasprzyk are involved in the development of pollen forecasts and aerobiological communications for the new service of the Polish Aerobiological Network. The author of the aerobiological reports is MSc Julia Brewka.

The service provides reports on airborne pollen grain and fungal spore concentrations, along with forecasts and practical health-related information.

Weekly updates include information on current levels of allergenic pollen and fungal spores across eight monitoring sites in Poland. Additionally, a clinical risk level is presented, indicating the potential severity of allergic symptoms for sensitive individuals during a given week.

Monitoring stations of the Polish Aerobiological Network are located in eight aerobiological centers. Measurements are conducted using the volumetric method in accordance with European Aerobiology Society (EAS) standards and the Quality Control procedures of the EAS.

For each city, a detailed forecast is updated, allowing assessment of current and predicted pollen conditions as well as seasonal development. The content is presented in the form of tables and commentary for individual locations.

The service is available at biometeo.imgw.pl or directly at: https://biometeo.imgw.pl/?page=PYLKI

Content is updated every Thursday during the pollen season, which typically lasts from February 1 to September 30.
